I knew that when I moved into my new appartment I needed to find a way for displaying the stacks of photographs that build up in the average 25-year-old’s life and I knew that once I found it had to be shared on Creaty so here it is.
In my old appartment I was quite content with sticking them to any surface I could find with a bit of Blu-tac, but I was set on finding a sleeker solution. Whilst mooching around Boxhagener Platz Fleamarket (worth a visit if you’re ever in Berlin btw) with my friend Cleo I spotted this big old white frame and had a lightbulb moment.
I enquired with the guy as to how much he wanted for it – it’s not in the best condition and I wasn’t willing to pay anything silly for it, but also wasn’t really in the mood to barter in German so I was pretty content when he said I could have it for 10 Euros.
I thought about cleaning it up a bit and repainting it, but I actually think it looks great in its shabby state so I took some string and tacked it in the back with some drawing pins to create six lines on which to peg my favourite photos.
The old frame with the new photos is now hanging on my kitchen wall, and I love it. The walls of my appartment are all white so this gives them a much needed splash of colour.
I need to give some proper thought to which pictures I love most to display on there – as you can see there are still a few spare spots up for grabs.
