Despite the title, this isn’t just a gift for Mothering Sunday but could actually be used for lots of occasions such as birthdays, anniversaries , weddings or Valentine’s. But since I made this for my mum for Mother’s Day I thought I would share it now.
Firstly you need to get yourself a boxy kind of frame. Handier types than me might like to make theirs, but I got mine from Wilkos. Then you need to think of three (or more) places that are significant to your mum or loved one.
I chose the part of London that she grew up in, the town we live in, the county I grew up in and the Gower peninsula in South Wales because we have been there on holiday since time began. I printed the maps out on high quality photo paper.
It really couldn’t be simpler, you then just draw a heart around the places she loves, cut out, and fold each one slightly down the middle, then stick onto a some white backing paper and pop it in your frame.
Et voila, a personalised and meaningful map frame. The great thing about making your mum things for Mother’s Day is that it doesn’t matter if you’re 5 or 25, she still has to (pretend to) like it.
