Anyone who follows me on Twitter might have seen that this weekend I was crafting a farewell card for a good friend who is going back to her roots after 6 years in Berlin. I’m really sad to see her go, so of course I had to distract myself by making the best goodbye card I could think of.
She’s going back to Namibia (cue a quick geography lesson courtesy of google maps), so I thought it would be nice to connect the two places with a card showing Berlin and Namibia, because it looks way closer on my map!
For the writing I used my ever trusty alphabet stamps and black ink which I think I am going to save for another post because they’re that great that they deserve it.
It was really simple to do this card – I just poked a needle through the map fed some baker’s twine through each end and stuck down. I had to look up how to draw a plane, yes really, but then just cut that out of some red card and PVA’d it on.
For anyone wondering about the “Auf wiedersehen, not good bye” – “Auf wiedersehen” means bye in German, but translates literally as ‘until we see each other again’ which I think is much nicer.
The only good thing about friends leaving you for far-flung places is that it means you literally HAVE to go visit them right? Someone find me a flight to Windhoek, quick!
Cue cheesy quote:
