I am really lucky that the area that I live in has an abundance of lunchtime eateries. This is one of my favourites so I thought I would share it as really, they are worth a visit.
Momos is a little café selling Nepalese-inspired dumplings in Prenzlauer Berg just north of Torstraße. You can find them at Fehrbelliner Str. 5 and the guys who run it are always lovely and speak good English too.
Aforementioned dumplings come in four different varieties which largely stay the same although I think they vary with the seasons and currently you can enjoy Spinach & Cheese, Cabbage & Carrot, Brocolli & Shiitake or Pumpkin & Chickpea. (The Germans’ love of all things pumpkin will be explored in a future post.)
You also get to pick your dipping sauce (no matter what age we reach, I think we can all echo the feelings of my 2 year old niece who will eat anything if you offer her it with a “dip-dip” option.) Dipping sauces come in soya-sesame (my personal fave), Yoghurt-mint, or Mitho which is a tomatoey-coriandery-gingery-chilli option.
Thing is, not ONLY do Momos serve great food, they are also big on sustainability. All their food is vegan & organic, and if you are taking your momos to the park then they will package them up in environmentally-friendly packaging. Now you don’t get that with a Currywurst.
