In January 2013 I decided to start a new challenge: the 365 project. I was going to take one photo every day, with a view to a) improving my photography skills and b) documenting my year in the form of a visual diary.
Fast forward to January 2015 and I am still at it. It’s kind of now turned into the 730+ project as I am two years in and still going.
I’ll admit that I don’t always take a brilliant photo for each day – 90% of the time it’s from my smartphone rather than my camera, but to me it is more important that I have a record of the day, be that a good or bad one.
I thought it would be a good idea to start a monthly round-up post on Creaty with my top 3 photos of the month, just to encourage myself to start to take photography more seriously.
The fortune cookie: my company always leaves a fortune cookie on our desk for the first day back at work so photographing it has become a bit of a tradition. I quite like the sound of my fortune for 2015.
This is the road that my office is in and on my commute one morning I was shocked to see the sun out. We rarely get any hours of sunlight in January here so it was most welcome.
A walk through the forest in Neustrelitz, a town just north of Berlin led to this picture. Again, a rare sunny moment and blue sky – the weather this year has been suspiciously good to date. On my Instagram you can see a video of how these tall trees were slowly shaking in the wind. We would have hung around to enjoy the view more, but we had to keep on the move to avoid the wild boar.
I’ll be back at the end of February with my next 365 roundup.
